In case you missed it…
If you’re wondering why the exclusive password is tater tot, you may have missed the 2nd episode of our livestream series The Powerful Point, where the three of us debate to make the most powerful point while being woefully underprepared. This episode we yelled about potato-based food.
We also released 2 videos since the last newsletter dropped and idk if you noticed but there was a theme! We wanted to talk about the ways young people are interacting with language and redefining the rules (much to some of y’all’s chagrin).
Sabrina’s Semi-Colon Suffering
Taha’s Texting Troubles
(congratulations to us on the alliterations:))
What’s Next?
Later this month, Melissa is going to try to detangle the idea of fancy and expensive using,,, frozen peas? idk man.
In January, things are getting slippery while we explore the surprisingly seedy underbelly of olive oil.
We’ll also be doing another Powerful Point livestream! Have ideas on what topic we should debate? Shoot us an email!
Recommendations
Melissa’s Playlist Recommendation: Hot Chocolate, Listen on Spotify @AnswerinProgress
We want to bring you some cozy tunes to read to, bake to, or just chill out to.
Taha’s Podcast Recommendation: The Art of Attention by Ezra Klein
Recently I’ve been coming back to this episode of the Ezra Klein Show. It’s a conversation with Jenny Odell, an artist and writer, about productivity, creativity and the radical simplicity of doing nothing. I would highly recommend for anyone feeling burnt out, overwhelmed or just ~ tired ~
Sabrina’s Book Recommendation: Semicolon: The Past, Present, and Future of a Misunderstood Mark by Cecelia Watson
If you’re looking for a comprehensive history book on the semicolon, this book probably isn’t for you. However, if you like a nice balance between interesting historical overview, insights into classic works, and a scathing critique on grammar purists, you will dig this bad boy.
