Why Are We Closing the Shop

We want to focus on what we do best.
We are so proud of the products we designed and developed over the years, from the Curiosity Journal to Melissa’s candles to our Reading Tracker Bookmarks. We are so lucky to be able to make things we want to see in the world and share them with you.
However, merch has also been a pretty major distraction at times. You all might remember Melissa’s candle ~~nightmare~~ saga we detailed in this newsletter. You might’ve also heard about how global commerce is in a weird place right now (we can’t even offer a closing discount on the Reading Tracker Bookmarks because we already dropped the price to what it costs us to make them).
We know good products take time — time to design, develop, and manufacture; time to negotiate with third-party vendors; time to pay attention to volatile currency exchange rates and tariffs; time we would rather spend on making videos.
Now, this doesn’t mean we’ll never release merch again. We might have a really good idea that demands a limited drop, or we could increase our manpower behind the scenes to support a shop… But for now, we are going back to the basics.
